Dear friends!

It is a great pleasure for me to welcome you to Murmansk to the 1st Women’s International Forum beyond the Arctic!

The idea of organizing a women’s forum in the North was a result of the participation of the delegation of the Murmansk region in the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg in September 2018.

The goal of the Murmansk forum is to establish an arena for uniting women of different professions and views; women with a strong personality and an open heart; women who are ready to share the knowledge and energy with others and capable of
supporting those in need, not just in word but in deed.

Today women are a significant force in all walks of life, be it business, government, activism, arts or science. Typical women’s traits such as flexibility, thoroughness, humanity and ability to cooperate become more and more applicable and relevant
in the present-day world. The purpose of the forum is to instil more confidence and a will to win in active and talented women.

I am confident that the forum will not just be a place for the discussion of topics relevant to women but that it will also contribute to strengthening business cooperation between women. Hope that those of you who come to the north for the first time will appreciate the beauty of our land and the hospitality of northerners.

I wish you fruitful discussions, new ideas and contacts, positive motivation and success!

 Marina Kovtun,
Governor of the Murmansk region
